ABSTRACT

This chapter describes Levin-Landheer’smodel of the stages of human development. Unlike linear models which imply that earlier stages cannot be revisited, it is diagrammed in a spiral implying that people can recycle particular stages and tasks throughout their lives. The chapter offers a hopeful metaphor for ongoing development. It offers permissions and affirmative messages for each stage of development. The chapter allows coachees to understand why they might be feeling stuck at certain stages of their lives, especially during times of change, and take their own permission to be accepting and presents with where they are as a springboard to develop in a new situation.
