The focus is on realising the strengths and resources available to the coachee to create his or her desired future. The International Coaching Federation framework of the Professional Certified Coach markers distils even more nuances of this deep listening. Some of them are the following: The clues picked up in active listening then feed into powerful questioning and reflections. The quality of coaching questions is as good as the quality of listening. A model of four areas of listening is described and examples given as to how coaches listen beyond the words to the deeper level of what meaning the client is making of who they are.
