ABSTRACT

This chapter explores the place of religion for some of the most important influencers among the Alt-Right. In the first instance, I argue that the same controversies concerning religion in general and Christianity in particular in preceding forms of white nationalism in America continued to trouble the Alt-Right. I argue that tensions over religiosity have come to compel some Alt-Rightists to abandon the brand in favor of alternatives like “Folkright.” This chapter establishes religious diversity as a central tension for white nationalists in the twenty-first century, which is something that Christian Alt-Right proponents attempted to address, as we will discuss in the following chapter.
