ABSTRACT

To address e-cheating we need to deeply understand how it works. This chapter breaks e-cheating up into a four stage life cycle. The first, awareness raising, includes advertising, review sites, product placement, sponsored content, and other approaches used to entice students into e-cheating. The second, purchasing, examines how e-cheating businesses handle ordering, negotiation and transactions across a range of platforms from Fiverr to Amazon. The third, content production, focuses on how cheating material is made and who makes it. The fourth, delivery, submission and after-sales care, focuses on the end use of cheating products and some of their undesirable consequences like blackmail. Strategies are provided for disrupting each stage of the e-cheating lifecycle.
