ABSTRACT

The chapter defines the differences between responsibility, authority, and accountability in an agribusiness. It goes on to describe formal business organizational structures and how organizational principles apply to these structures. A discussion is included on the impact of informal relationships in the business and their impact on the success of an agribusiness. A description of various leadership styles employed by agribusiness managers is included. Some of the current theories of managing and motivating employees are discussed. The chapter ends with a discussion of recognition and its role in motivating employees.
