ABSTRACT

The chapter outlines the reasons why some agribusinesses may choose to seek out international markets. A brief description of the importance of international markets to U.S. food and agribusiness firms is included. Some of the challenges of doing business in international markets are discussed, including cultural differences, currency exchange rates, and accounting differences. Additionally, some of the issues surrounding international law and property rights are discussed. Finally, the chapter outlines a variety of strategies an agribusiness firm can utilize to enter foreign markets.
