ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses the need for a meeting in terms of the tenets of facilitative leadership. To make good decisions we need to build an information base, get options identified, and evaluate options based on facts and values. Very often meetings are the best way to get alignment. One way to think about the idea of efficiency is respecting people’s time. The chapter discusses the case of Guptan whose idea failed the RAE test, as it was a problem better assigned to handling in one-on-one meetings with each component area and fleshing out the FMEA that way. Guptan promised to to get a few milestones related to the FMEA onto the project plan. He also silently plotted to get the FMEA onto the studio wall as quickly as he had meaningful information on a form.
