ABSTRACT

Pedagogy and background knowledge are important to understand and support accommodations for a variety of learners. However, there is nothing that can replace hands-on teaching experiences when serving a variety of learners in your classroom. Children who have special needs, gifts, talents, or skills need early childhood teachers who are sensitive, aware, and responsive to their needs. Within this chapter, strategies are suggested on how to accommodate all learners, including learners with special needs and English language learners. At the heart of all accommodations, positive, supportive relationships and interactions must be present in order to best serve young learners with varied needs.
