ABSTRACT

Feedback is often associated with formal events, like an annual performance review. In actuality, we encounter feedback every day in a variety of settings and situations, and often may not recognize it as feedback. This chapter challenges the reader to revisit their own assumptions and attitudes about feedback, and presents feedback fundamentals that lay the foundation for the chapters that follow. After reading this chapter, the reader will have a clearer understanding of what feedback is, where it shows up, and why it is valuable.
