ABSTRACT

One of a principal's greatest challenges is to work successfully with high achievers. The high achievers do so much of the work within a school. If we do not work with them effectively, we will lose their valuable contributions, which are often irreplaceable. High achievers hold themselves to very high standards. They expect to succeed at everything they do and work exceedingly hard to do so. That is one reason they are so good. Instead of an end-of-the-year award, it is better to consistently acknowledge that what the best teachers do is different and special. A principal should let them know how much they mean to him/her and to the students. High achievers put pressure on themselves; relieve them of it. Conversely, high achievers are among the first to leave when they do not feel valued and important.
