ABSTRACT
After the CPSU 20th Congress and Khrushchev’s Secret Speech, Swingler resigns from the CP. He declines Edward Thompson’s invitation to edit the New Reasoner, but he joins the founding editorial board and edits the Blake bicentenary supplement. He writes The Fall of Babylon and is on the founding editorial board of New Left Review.
