ABSTRACT
In the army, Swingler trains as a wireless operator at Catterick. MI5 put him under surveillance. He joins a CP Group at Catterick. The BBC censorship his anti-Nazi radio play The Church Militant. He writes the finale for Unity’s show Get Cracking. Posted to 56 Divisional Signals, he travels by convoy to South Africa, where he contacts the SACP in Capetown. They travel via India, Iraq, Palestine and Egypt to Libya. Swingler takes part in the Battle of Enfidaville. He meets John Willett in Cairo.
