ABSTRACT

The concluding chapter stems from two principal sources: Nepalese students’ or alumni’s multiple experiences in relation to China, and China’s geointellect drive in South Asia. The first part determines and discusses the relationship between China’s soft power aims and Nepalese students’ experiences in academic, social, cultural, and political terms. The study reveals mixed outcomes for China – for example, in terms of wielding a positive image among Nepalese students for good governance. However, missing links in China’s soft power were found in three major areas: the image of its higher education system, its cultural penetration, and Nepalese students’ perceptions of Chinese society. The second part of the chapter expatiates on implications of China’s geointellect for South Asian countries.
