ABSTRACT

This chapter applies the geointellect model to Pakistan and Sri Lanka, presented as micro case studies, with respect to China’s growing education-cum-research activities under the banner of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). The China–Pakistan Economic Corridor extends to bilateral cooperation in higher education. The chapter takes note of Gwadar as an emerging hub of Chinese educational activities, the BRI Education Action Plan, university alliances, joint research, award diplomacy, and scientific collaborations. Further, it covers the trends in China’s coauthorship with South Asian countries. Finally, the chapter interprets these collaborations from the perspective of implications for China and for these countries.
