ABSTRACT

The purpose of this chapter is to provide guidelines for obtaining evaluative information regarding the reactions of individuals and groups to the design and implementation of a sport psychology program once the program has concluded, as part of an overall sport psychology program evaluation plan. This kind of evaluation is referred to as a program reaction evaluation. First, the chapter offers a rationale for the importance and usefulness of acquiring information about the thoughts, opinions, and suggestions of program participants and others about the program. Second, it identifies the types of individuals and groups who can be sources for providing program reaction information. Third, it sets forth conditions that are necessary for conducting a program reaction evaluation. Finally, the chapter covers key program reaction evaluation questions and methods that can assist in planning and conducting a program reaction evaluation.
