ABSTRACT

A patient’s state of mind could be represented by such a model on occasions when he continues attack after attack on objects by which he is persecuted. The problem of the personality at the crossroads, the problem of what impulses must dominate when thought is translated into action, or from meditation into decision, or from one state of mind into another, may be regarded as one of power and the seizure of a commanding position. This chapter proposes to class the transformation that takes place when thought is expressed in speech as action. Transformation may be a transference of characteristics from one situation to another, from one medium to another, a rigid motion, or a projective transformation. The chapter also proposes to devote a little time to the relationship of the elements of mathematics to the biological realizations to which they approximate.
