ABSTRACT

Companies tend to issue the corporate press release via paid services such as BusinessWire or PR Newswire, or send them directly to financial news wires such as Bloomberg News, Dow Jones News Wire or Reuters, the big three of real-time news. The Securities and Exchange Commission's (SEC) website offers guides on reading the financial statements, which it labels as easy to read as baseball box scores. The Balance Sheet is snapshot of the company’s financial health at that point in time, such as end of quarter listed on document. The Statement of Cash Flows, uses information from other statements to show measures of performance: cash from operations, cash from investing and cash from financing activities. The SEC granted the public access to listen during chief executive officer (CEO) conference calls with Wall Street analysts. This is one of the few times when CEO or chief financial officer fields questions that dig deeper into financial statements.
