ABSTRACT

In an earlier work, I had presented an assessment of the effect of lawlessness, widespread corruption, financial mismanagement and political chaos and the economic performance of Pakistan with special reference to the years 1969–96, though other critical period sup-to year 2000 were also touched upon. This chapter, in the context of theoretical framework presented by institutional setting theories, identifies factors responsible for Pakistan’s woes particularly during the period from the year 2000–2019 under different regimes and tries to pinpoint the primary issues emanating from policy, management and governance failures taking birth from institutional framework.
