ABSTRACT

On humanitarian grounds, the refugees are made dependent for their own survival. Their crisis could be solved only through political means. However, an enabling factor is for durable solution development. Repatriation is the option preferred by the international community as “the optimum and most feasible durable solution to the refugee crisis”. From the end of the Cold War, new essentials have prevailed and repatriation became the most desirable durable solution. Durable solution or repatriation are the best options to solve the problem of refugees. Local integration is possible in the developed countries but is impossible in the developing and underdeveloped countries. The chapter describes policy levels relating to the available global literature. The research/policy linkages related to the service areas such as education, healthcare, counselling and legal aid emphasise the need to directly address the problems faced by refugees.
