ABSTRACT
All religions and mythologies describe a vast array of supernatural beings that guide man, trick him, offer him enlightenment or occult secrets. MacGregor Mathers, co-founder of the Order of the Golden Dawn similarly claimed that he had contacted beings he called ‘Secret Chiefs’ and Aleister Crowley believed that he received an occult revelation from Aiwass, a mysterious Egyptian entity. The world of the occult is one in which the entire universe is filled with mysterious personages and beings. Some of these the occultist can beseech for help in his quest for greater knowledge. Magicians and occultists believe that they have access to the far reaches of the mind, and they hold, like Carl Jung, that these beings are a reflection of different levels of consciousness. According to occultist Franz Bardon, there are also spirit beings for every degree of the planetary zodiac.
