ABSTRACT

First and foremost, to work in the entertainment lighting field one must have a general understanding about lighting. Light is a physical part of our world and one should take every opportunity possible to learn and understand about light as it pertains to their current job and their career path. There is no substitute for working with real lighting. Many inexperienced designers and programmers will make use of visualizers to perfect their skills and practice various procedures. With a virtual rig physics, budgets, time, human abilities, power, other departments, and a multitude of additional factors do not limit one. When building up their experience bank, nothing is better than real-world occurrences. When one have the drive to learn about lighting or increase their knowledge about lighting, there is a vast number of resources available to one. Starting at a young age, some schools teach lighting skills from junior high forward. Many colleges have programs dedicated to entertainment lighting design.
