ABSTRACT
George Masek's career has ranged from lighting technician to product specialist, and he is now a well-known and respected figure in the automated lighting industry. Masek expressed his career goal to work with Vari-Lite and his frustration at being turned down multiple times. Starting on the production line in Manufacturing, Masek learned all that he could about the lights he had been touring with. Many productions including Broadway, television, Las Vegas installations, theme parks, and cruise ships jumped at the opportunity to add automated lighting to their shows. After some time in sales, Masek realized that he had stepped to far from the light and needed to get back to lighting. He became the point person for key accounts regarding fixture issues, support, and customer needs and wants. Masek has most recently transitioned to working directly for Clay Paky as a Senior Product Specialist where he continues to interface with designers, programmers, and technicians.
