ABSTRACT

Robert Roth’s career has followed along with the evolution of the modern lighting industry. Looking back, he says, “Minimalism is great and can be lots of fun, but nothing beats spectacle.” In the late 1960s, Roth was thirteen and inspired by the oil projection shows he saw at various rock shows. He knew he could do better, so he borrowed some projectors from his junior high school and started doing shows. Over time, the position of lighting designer was becoming understood, and Roth found more work than he could handle. Roth embarked on a new phase in his career as he was employed at PRG as a client manager. His relationships and contacts, combined with his real-world experience, made him a natural for this role. He was introduced to Huntly Christie in late 2007 and began working with Christie Lites in 2008. His role continues there as an account rep managing clients and shows.
