ABSTRACT

The text explored in this chapter is an article by the Salvadorean writer Jacinta Escudos and concerns the legacy of the civil war in El Salvador and the many “disappeared” people who are still to be accounted for. Research on El Salvador and the civil war is pursued in the exercises within the chapter. Vocabulary work additionally focuses on the Spanish equivalents for English both. Under grammar, relative pronouns and negative constructions are studied. Production exercises consist of further explanation of the causes and consequences of the civil war and debate on whether popular protest can influence the course of political events.
