ABSTRACT

This chapter describes the ways of starting of new course, using design standards and award rubrics, designing meaningful interaction, defining goals and learning objectives, creating a course map, creating assessments, the roles of assessments in courses, and planning learning activities. It also describes the ways of development and implementation of content, making of videos, the ways of addressing delayed development, and building courses to facilitate updates. Traditional forms of online student engagement, such as text discussions and synchronous multimedia interactions, can be improved with careful thought and design. A good approach to developing a module is to begin by creating assessments that determine how well students have learned the material. Assessments help students and faculty identify topics where students need additional study. Student preparation also influences the choice of learning activities. Providing frequent context and framing is one of the most important things faculty and designers do.
