ABSTRACT

Chapter Eight underlines the meeting points between Arthashastra and its disciplinary conversations with the field of diplomatic studies, strategic thought and international relations theory. Understanding concepts and vocabularies highlights the relevance of classics like Arthashastra, can be useful for not only highlighting strategic ontologies but also recognizing lessons it offers for cross-cultural comparisions in terms of how concepts and ideas are theorised. This chapter underlines the learnings from Arthashastra-as an embodiment of a non-western intellectual resource but also emphasizes to go beyond binaries when thinking about International Relation Theory as ‘West’ and ‘Non-West’.
