ABSTRACT

This concluding chapter offers a short summary of the key findings of the book and concludes the discussion. It reiterates that the central incongruity of Brexit – which is the dichotomy of Leave and Remain sets up the content and situation for the proliferation of comedy about Brexit. This is the joke or incongruity in the social situation. The incongruity of Leave and Remain represents a base on which Brexit humour emerges and through which there are forms of meta-joking and irony that concern the particularities of the discourse and its various constituent parts.
