ABSTRACT

The narratives of television viewers in Bangladesh underscore the viewing culture in this chapter. It provides thematic elaborations of the perceptions and practices of the viewers. The chapter maps the viewing of television in a particular district as well as at multiple ethnographic sites. The enchantment and disenchantment of the viewers, their tastes and preferences of television content, their practices and performances in relation to television viewing and their discourses and discomforts towards the pattern of television media are crucial parts of the discussion. The chapter looks at the viewers, the content they watch, their motivations and subjective preferences and so on.
