ABSTRACT

This conclusion summarises the arguments made throughout this book. My thesis is that duelling in Russia is, and always has been, a symptom of masculinity, which is, and always had been, in crisis. Further research on the duel in Russia and its connections to the Russian cultural imagination are necessary. I argue that instead of pointing pistols at each other, these men should aim them at toxic masculinity and the power structures that keep all genders in chains. Until then, there will always be bodies and blood in the snow.
