ABSTRACT

This chapter builds on the previous chapter and provides a heuristic of inclusive development’s three movements (from participation to representation; from uncritical to critical assessment of social capital; and from social protection to redistribution). For each movement, an educational corollary is provided. For participation to representation, the case of representation for children with disabilities is highlighted in schools – specifically for children with disabilities. For critical to uncritical assessment of social capital, the case of elite, mass, and universal higher education are highlighted as examples of inclusive development but are examined carefully for the stratifications that emerge even in universal systems. The movement from social protection to redistribution is highlighted by examples of Pijl’s framing of input and throughput funding for inclusive education. A specific example of this funding for inclusive education in the Republic of Serbia is provided. The chapter closes by highlighting considerations of inclusive development’s movements for education.
