ABSTRACT

Performer and writer Tasha Fairbanks has been involved in theatre for 20 years. She worked with Sidewalk Theatre and Gay Sweatshop before co-founding the lesbian feminist Siren Theatre Company in 1979. She has been a freelance playwright since 1987 and worked with Sphinx and Monstrous Regiment and Graeae (Theatre of and for the Disabled and Differently Abled). She has also written screenplays for television. While her work continues into the 1980s and 1990s, her interview is included in this section because the issue of funding for lesbian theatre which Fairbanks describes is informative to many of the other interviews which follow.
