Juliet Stevenson is known for her acclaimed acting work on stage, film and television. Notable television roles include Nora in the 1993 BBC production of A Doll’s House, directed by David Thacker, and the title role in the BBC production of Antigone. Film credits include the role of Nina in the internationally successful Truly, Madly, Deeply, directed by Anthony Minghella, Drowning by Numbers, directed by Peter Greenaway, and The Secret Rapture by David Hare, directed for film by Howard Davies. But Juliet Stevenson is still known primarily for her stage work. She has won three Laurence Olivier Awards for Best Actress for her roles in Measure for Measure, Troilus and Cressida, and Yerma. She won a Time Out Award for Best Actress for her role in Death and the Maiden, and an Emmy Award. She also wrote and presented a BBC programme on the Great Journeys of Isabella Eberhardt. In 1994/5, she participated in a workshop scene from As You Like It, with Fiona Shaw, for an Open University/BBC video (see photo).
