ABSTRACT

Sue Pomeroy has worked extensively as a director in regional subsidized theatre, as well as in the mainstream commercial theatre. She has worked at the Royal National Theatre, spent three years as director of the Waterhouse Theatre, Croydon, and won an Arts Council bursary to work in Berlin with the Berliner Ensemble. Her company, Good Company, teaches through theatre: in particular, they use a combination of drama and workshops. Their production of I Bertolt Brecht, toured the UK and was performed in the newly united Germany — at the Theater am Schiffbauerdamm, home of the Berliner Ensemble — by special invitation in November 1991, and throughout India in Autumn 1992 at the invitation of the Prithvi Theatre International Festival in Bombay. The play is performed each summer at the Open University summer school for the course Literature in the Modern World.
