ABSTRACT

Women’s Issues Theatre (WIT) was co-founded by Sue Schilperoort and Julie Child in 1991. It was set up as ‘a feminist co-operative committed to: producing work central to women’s lives; presenting experimental pieces alongside more conventionally formatted material; and developing a new “feminist theatre practice.”‘ Their work has included the experimental pieces Remodelling Woman, Judy’s Last Punch, and Daisy in Bright Lights; Sue Schilperoort’s plays Mothering Rights and Half a Million Women; and Franca Rome’s The Same Old Story. They also run drama workshops and theatre-in-education projects.
