ABSTRACT
Chapter 4 delves into the heart of the methodology of creating and sustaining a truth space. The chapter offers rich descriptions of critical literacy engagements, anchored in Thick Radical Love, that took place in the Blue Diamonds’ afterschool Truth Spaces. It includes a curriculum involving photos, discussion questions, texts, the girls’ creation of counternarratives, journaling, and analytical processes. Ethnopoetics is a significant analytic and representational tool of this chapter. Using innovative research methodologies, Chapter 4 discusses the power of ethnopoetics, particularly in the lives of Black women.
