From the earliest days, white rioters burned and pillaged successful Black communities, while our government subsidized mortgages for whites. What is the legacy of restrictive covenants, redlining, and the destruction of black wealth? Why are there still fewer Black homeowners than whites, and why are those homes valued less, as well?
