ABSTRACT
This chapter introduces the reader to foundational script reading tactics. Additionally, this chapter reminds readers to check in on their own expectations and assumptions about the script. Finally, the first step in analysis is to engage the playwright's language for basic understanding as well as historical or cultural context, and social awareness.
