ABSTRACT

This book is about gendered notions of everyday violence women face within homes and resistance against it within the legal and social domains. It is built around the lives of women who are trapped in a vicious cycle of violence and yet with their sheer resilience they resisted and challenged the status quo. It is about women’s quest for survival with dignity. By documenting resistance against violence within the courts by women, this work examines the systematic subordination of women within the homes, courts and society, yet at the same time, it also looks at their resistance and dissent to explore new possibilities.
