ABSTRACT

The fourth wave is different from the second wave because the former uses modern technology, and pastors, instead of using indigenous languages, preaches in English. The fourth wave practices a hermeneutics that is based on experience, which is advantageous to many people in society. The first challenge for the fourth wave is how to deal with their spirit of anti-theological education that results in lack of exegesis, reading scriptures out of context and reading into the text instead of reading out of it. The fourth challenge is that while the fourth wave embraces gender inclusivity in terms of leadership on the one hand, it abuses women on the other hand. Abuse of women should be exposed in the fourth wave such that others will learn the lessons against it. In criminal matters, the law of South Africa should take its course, regardless of the status or title of the perpetrator.
