ABSTRACT

This chapter provides, strength- and solution-focused thinking to help young people understand they are not helpless, weak or incapable. Building a sense of agency, contribute to a confident mindset. A sense of choice and control in health professionals' life are imperative for problem-solving and decision-making skills. Self-efficacy is another part of the problem-solving process. Self-efficacy understands that not only do health professionals have choice and control in their life, professionals can also influence the outcome of their problems by using their capabilities. A sense of agency and self-efficacy are part of a long-term process. Professionals are learning a complex yet achievable set of skills that will evolve across their lifetime through increased self-awareness, maturity and lots of practice. To develop a sense of agency and self-efficacy, it's an advantage to know health professionals' strengths. Programs boosting self-awareness and development of character strengths have shown improvements in self-esteem, life satisfaction and performance.
