ABSTRACT

This concluding piece summarises the key facets of queer media visibility and asks how queer visibility changes and transforms as media landscapes and systems develop. The potentialities of queer visibility after marriage equality are explored, and it is argued that both queer visibility and queer media studies more broadly require more dialectical approaches, where methodologies are devised to scrutinise the varying confluences contributing to queer visibility on-screen. This conclusion also outlines the continuous tug-of-war shaping dynamic of queer visibility and how research needs to continue to question the fault lines, dynamics and modalities of queer visibility.
