ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses some solutions for the environmental problems discussed in the previous two chapters. Most of the time, for environmental, social, or economic problems, we look for solutions from technology, or to best practices that work for the developed countries (that have the financial and human resources). But, what if the solutions are already in front of our eyes? This chapter highlights the indigenous environmental knowledge and sustainable practices and how, if supported and institutionalized, they could save the city from its environmental problems.
