ABSTRACT

The Ministry of Atmospheric Resources consists of four main branches. These are responsible for Atmospheric Intelligence, Atmospheric Marketing, Atmospheric Management, and International Affairs respectively. The sensitivity of the international commodity markets to weather and climate information is a clear indication that, in the ‘real’ economic and business world, weather and climate sensitivity is a reality. The connections between the difficulties of weather and climate forecasting, and the equally complex problems which politicians and social scientists face, point clearly to an even more difficult problem when one tries to link the meteorological and climatological system with the economic, political, and social system. The multi-disciplinary nature of the climate system also calls for a mechanism to make available much more relevant information to a wide range of people. Meteorologists and climatologists have an important role to play in educating and influencing communities and governments of the importance of the atmospheric resource.
