ABSTRACT

Climate variations - including ‘changes’ in the climate - are paramount when considering weather and climate sensitivity, but many aspects of these terms need to be considered. A review of the appropriate literature related to climate impacts could also be made, which would lead to ranking activities as to their sensitivity to climate influences. Specific weather and climate events were also studied by the Center. An initial quantitative approach to identifying climate sensitivities might be to look for seasonal variations in production and consumption data. A good idea of climate sensitivity can also be obtained from an analysis of appropriate climate and economic data of a country. The work of the Oklahoma Climatological Survey is of considerable importance for its strong economic base. An important feature of climate impact studies is that although last month’s weather or climate is history, the measurement of its economic impact is not.
