ABSTRACT

The main purpose of the weekly report is to inform the design team and other relevant stakeholders of the status of a project at a given point in time – usually the end of the previous week’s site activities. However, for the report to be of value, the Clerk of Works must ensure both impartiality and currency. For the purpose of these notes, it is assumed that a JCT form of building contract is being used. However, the project report form can be used under other forms of contract. Directions may be given to the contractor by the Clerk of Works in respect of matters that are empowered under the building contract, and which may be the subject of a CA’s instruction. The Clerk of Works direction has to alert the CA to information or action that, in the opinion of the Clerk of Works, is relevant. The chapter also presents a specimen Main Contractor's Labour Return.
