ABSTRACT
A number of imaginative, young practices are conceiving temporary structures that are backed up by inquisitive detective work into a particular place and the construction of playful but thought-provoking narratives. The projects, being temporary in nature, let their creators’ imaginations run wild, with the design process allowing for more freedom to test out ideas that will inspire and engage an audience. Projects of the nature often dig deep into the history of an area, drawing on obscure observations to develop a conceptual understanding of a place. The temporal nature of the project also allowed the studio to think more abstractly and develop an elaborate narrative that might, in a conventional permanent project, have been suppressed by more pragmatic considerations.
