Health and safety principles for consideration in a Strategic Brief should include the following: Health and safety should always be included as a headline agenda item for project meetings. Health must be given the same status as safety. Time and resources are the necessary ingredients for best practice in health and safety. Projects must start with an organised approach, stemming from the Strategic Brief. All project team members need to have organisational ability. Health and safety legislation is generally enacted through a number of statutory instruments. The Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 identify the structure and behaviour of organisations in respect of the management of business operations. Health and safety must be part of the Project Objectives and so it is important that it is addressed as part of the Strategic Brief. The design process is often difficult to review in detail, as so many interactions occur.
