ABSTRACT
Chapter 10 examines what is meant by the term green building. It discusses concepts and strategies of passive solar heating, passive cooling, and daylighting, and shows how green buildings are tuned to their local climates. Details including green roofs and green walls are described. Green building rating systems are presented, including LEED, Living Building Challenge, and others. The concepts of biophilic design and evidence-based design are introduced.
