Chapter 8 defines the concept of pollution and gives an overview of the types of pollutants, where they are found and where they originate. It describes methods of pollution remediation, including conventional methods, bioremediation, and phytoremediation. The Precautionary Principle, the Polluter Pays Principle, and the pollution prevention framework are introduced.
