ABSTRACT

Climate crisis and ecological collapse are defining our contemporary world. This book explores the psychological terrain of engaging with climate emergency, through discussions, reflections and sharing stories about people’s experiences. This Introduction suggests that people can break out of habitual modes of consciousness and mature into a greater understanding of their world and themselves through facing into climate crisis and ecological destruction. Topics covered in this Introduction include an account of the author’s journey of engagement and her doctoral research that informed this book in part, a brief introduction to the value of depth psychology and a description of each of the book’s chapters.
